We spent a few days in Mui Ne, a very popular beach resort in Southern Vietnam but to be honest it wasn't really our scene. There were lots and lots of people and loud bars with scantily dressed Russians dominating the beach.
We made the most of it and spent our days relaxing by the pool at our cute hotel. We also drove to the white sand dunes one evening for sunset, which are breathtaking and romantic but prepare to leave with sand everywhere as it's usually very windy. We just walked across the dunes but the quad-biking looked really fun!
The vegetarian and vegan food choices were slightly limited in Mui Ne despite there being a huge amount of restaurants along the ocean road. We did discover an amazing vegan cafe called Pacha Mama just down the road from our hotel which we'd really recommend. The lady who owns it is really passionate about producing Vietnamese vegan food and she surprised us each time with a new dish she was making. We also had a romantic meal at Sandals restaurant on the beach, they have a good selection of Veggie dishes.
If you like busy, party-beach destinations then Mui Ne might be one for you to try, or if you're into kitesurfing (or want to learn) as it's one of the top places to kitesurf!
We made our way down the coast for a bit of luxury for Valentine's weekend to the Princess D'am Nam resort. It was exactly what we wanted; a few days of doing very little other than swimming in one of the many picturesque pools dotted around the resort and being pampered by the staff. I'd recommend this hotel if you really want a few days to escape the rest of the world, there's not much to do around the hotel so you might get bored if you want to sightsee.
The only complaint we had was the food! It was pretty overpriced for what it was, we expected fine-dining for the price we paid... and again, the vegetarian options were pretty disapointing.
The gardens around the hotel are luscious and I spent quite a bit of time trying to identify all the exotic flowers & foliage. On arrival we were greeted with a hand-written welcome note from the Manager which was a really nice touch :)
After our relaxing week at the beach it was time to head to our final destination in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City.
